Safeguarding

Fens Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding our children and this is at the forefront of everything we do in school. Safeguarding means keeping your child happy, healthy and safe. All staff receive annual safeguarding training and are aware of how to keep our pupils safe and what signs to look out for. Staff are well-trained and are vigilant to any changes in behaviours that may indicate a safeguarding concern and they know who to report their concerns to.

Our children are encouraged to share any concerns they may have and we have policies and processes in place that underpin what we do in school to make sure children are safe. Any concerns are sensitively dealt with by the most appropriate member of the safeguarding team and concerns are acted upon swiftly.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism and work closely with statutory and voluntary sectors to ensure we fulfil our safeguarding duties.

We are an Operation Encompass School. Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to ensure better outcomes for children who are subject or witness to police-attended incidents of domestic abuse.

The School has a Designated Link Safeguarding Governor: Mrs L. Ovens. As a school, we regularly provide feedback to the whole governing body regarding safeguarding and Mrs L. Ovens, in her role as safeguarding governor, visits the school to further explore and monitor the school’s safeguarding practices.
